    Overview of Srisailam 
    Srisailam is located in Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The sanctuary is located in the Nallamala hills. This holy place is located on the banks of the river called as Krishna. This is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples located all over India. Near the temple is the majestic Srisailam dam. The river flows over the dam is Krishna. The temple here is called as Sri Mallikarjuna swamy temple. The temple is also called as Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva.

    Legends and mythology: 
    According to the story lord brahma give great power of demon known as arunasura. The devil has the power of prayer to lord brahma. Power was demon Sura aruna can not be killed by two or four legs. The power given by brahma to aruna sura was disturbed to humans or gods with things of the devil. So pray to lord brahma gods and goddess Durga to destroy demon aruna sura. Thus Goddess Durga had come as Bhramara with thousands of bees with six legs. So goddess killed aruna Bhramara sura as it is known to be bhramarambika. Goddess was placed or shaped bhramarambika prayed for this story.

    According to the story of Lord Rama's father Hiranyakasipu also ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu Prahalad was offered prayers here. When Pandavas temple visit five lingas were installed here.
