Yaganti also known as Temple Sri Uma Maheswara Yaganti dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, India, that was built in the 15th century. One of the most important pilgrimage centers of the state have Yaganti natural landscapes with caves and waterfalls around.
Yaganti been derived importance from Kshetram Yaganti containing Umamaheswara temple, popularly known as Yagantiswami. The deity Shiva (Yagantiswami) is in the form of statue. The tower of the temple has beautiful sculptures.
The most striking feature is the huge Nandi temple which is eight meters high. The festival of Maha Shivaratri is celebrated here every year, attracting a large congregation.
Yaganti is located 11 km from Banaganapalle, Bethamcherla 29 km and 60 km from Kurnool town. Shiva, Parvati and Nandi are the main deities in the temple.
Sri Uma Maheswara Yaganti Temple was built in the 15th century by King Harihara Bukka Rayalu, Sangama Dynasty of the Vijayanagara Empire and was built according to the traditions Vaishnavaite.
The beauty of the temple is that a small pool of water is present in the temple premises known as its Pushkarini, water flows in this Pushkarini from the bottom of the hill through the mouth of a Nandi (bull). The water comes from the hills are fresh and sweet, no one knows how far the water reaches the pond and the water flows throughout the year.
This temple architecture and sculpture showcases the skills of an ancient Vishwakarma sthapathis. Devotees believe that a holy dip in Pushkarini is very beneficial for those who are going to take a bath in the holy water. And after taking a bath in water Pushkarini, paid tribute to Lord Shiva.
